I am not gonna reblog several things, but it is always okay to post whatever the heck you want to my ask/inbox. I have been stupidly busy in preparation for maybe hopefully moving to lovely Atlantic Canada, but I miss y’all tumblrers.

does anyone else think that Lando seems to be avoiding telling Han that he knocked off the Falcon’s radar dish in the Death Star despite promising “she won’t have a scratch on her”?

Uh…yeah. Not a…not a scratch.

let’s be real for a sec, han couldn’t afford that anyway.

I was gonna say he pirates it, but…

Wait, that makes sense.

I have seen many online quizzes that tell you what type of gamer you are. However, I haven’t found any quizzes that specifically addressed girl gamers. So, I decided to come up with a light-hearted comic on four general attributes I have found in girl gamers while playing SWTOR: girliness, bitchiness, socialness, and skillfulness.
On a scale of 1 (least) to 10 (most), where do you and/or your girl gamer friend score per attribute? :D

…

Ok, so based this on attributes you’ve observed in “girl gamers” on SWTOR. What I’d like to know is how the hell you know that the players that you have supposed observed performing these behaviors are, in fact, female. Because I’m going to venture that you don’t. You had a set of pre-conceived notions (and pretty fucking sexist notions at that) that you have likely gleaned from other sources (read: men) of how “female gamers” act, and then decided that players who fit into those preconceived notions must be “girl gamers”. This is nothing but gendered stereotype bingo.

good fucking godthis person a. doesn’t actually play with the awesome ladies of swtorb. doesn’t know how to interact with peoplec. has never seen a game so incredibly populated by ladiesd. GIRLS PLAEY VIDJA GAEM? HOW? WIT BOOB?!e. all of the aboveif you guessed e you’re not as big of a moron as this slackjawed fuckwit suffocating under his trilby of shame

The worst part about this is that this was made by a woman. Who plays SWTOR. I’ve seen her other comics and thought they were cute, but this one is awful, and it’s worse coming from another woman. People try to deny that internalized misogyny is a thing, but here it is, guys. “Look at those other STUPID women, I’m not LIKE them, I’m not girly (wtf is wrong with having a pink lightsaber?) I’m not bitchy (because this entire THING isn’t a snipe at other female players?) I’m not obnoxiously peppy and friendly, and I obviously know how to play my class, unlike THEM.”
UGH.

You know what’s funny? I do “serious” swtor stuff a lot. Like hardest content operations and grouping up for pvp. And when I’m in voice, there are female sounding voices constantly doing the same stuff. It’s probably the best game I’ve ever played in regards to overt gender being unremarkable. I used to get gunshy and would join a PUG ops voice thing on mute, but after I constantly hear no comments whatsoever when I or another girl sounding person speak, I’ve stopped doing that.
So most everyone I’ve met in the game doesn’t care. It’s just not a thing. Unremarkable. There’s nothing special, unusual, or needing of its own category in a “girl gamer”.
Well, except for every once in while a couple of idiots start talking about the “Girl In Real Life” idiocy on fleet chat, which to me only means they don’t play socially much.
Even if this comic wasn’t intended to come off like it does (the idea of it being a scale makes it seem lighthearted and not damning at least), it seems to me to be on the same level as people talking about “g.i.r.l. gamers”. It’s a narrow viewpoint that tries to force categories down where they really aren’t applicable or useful or funny. And I know too many hardcore ops people who are also pretty pretty jedi dressup enthusiasts of any gender to ever refers to pink lightsabers as girly. It either matches your character’s outfit or it doesn’t.
I’ll just keep making fun of sentinels who pull before the tank or hammer on a guardian reflecting/sage bubbling/guarded healer. width=

Yeah, but, see, if they let sith on Coruscant, that’s gonna get really awkward when Rehn knocks on the door selling Republic badges and cookies for the Volunteer Republic Cheer Committee.

That would be very awkward.

Can you imagine the repair costs if Gevi finds out a Sith is living in her apartment building?

That would be a little more awkward. Imagine living below that. Would your homeowner’s insurance cover sith v jedi battles. And what about lightsabers through your ceiling!
